Flash Fiction Competition.

As many of you who have read previous posts may have noticed, i love flash fiction. I learned about flash fiction at one of the first meetings of my writers group i attended. I’d like to pass my love of flash fiction on to others. It is with this in mind that i am posting this today to announce my first competition.

The Flash Fiction Competition.

It’s a boring competition name i know, but hey. It’s still a competition right? Participants have until May 31 to write a flash fiction piece in any genre. Entries will then be judged by a panel of three judges including myself. Winners will be announced on June 5, 2018 in a post here on the blog. Winners will be notified of their success via email.

Competition guidelines.

When entering, please use the following guidelines.
1. Entries are to be between 50 and 500 words long.
2. One piece is to be entered per person.
3. All entries must be sent in by May 31, 2018 at 11:59pm Brisbane Time.
4. Where possible, all entries should be submitted in .txt, .doc or .rtf file formats.
5. All entries must be submitted by email
6. An email will be sent to each entrant confirming that an entry has been received.
7. If you write under a pseudonym, pen name or any other form of name, please submit your entry using this name.
8. One email, per person is to be sent. Repeat emails will not be accepted unless questions are being answered.


Three winners will be chosen, in the standard 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
1st place: a $30 amazon gift card, a post with their winning entry and a permanent guest writer space on the blog.
2nd place: A post with their winning entry and a permanent Guest Writer Position on the blog.
3rd place: A post presenting their winning entry on the blog.

A little inspiration

Struggling to get started? here are a few prompts to get those creative juices flowing.
prompt 1. 3 words: troubled, curious, strange.
prompt 2. Sounds: a barking dog, shattering glass and a woman’s scream.
prompt 3. Objects: a glass bowl, a lock of hair and a pressed flower.

Final Notes.

May it be noted that winners will be notified via email (unless specified elsewhere) of their winnings. Winners will be emailed on June 5, 2018. I would like to wish all entrants all the best. May you be successful in this competition.
